I don't think anyone would get very far trying to tell them what to think.
The idea that colleges indoctrinate students is nonsense and is not supported by any evidence that I have seen. Frankly, it is insulting to the students to think that some profs have that much influence over them. I think the main issue is parents that have tried to raise their kids with certain beliefs and a certain worldview then see their kids grow up, go to college, and have their beliefs challenged. The kids also meet others from different backgrounds and cultures and come to realize that mom and dad might not have had all of the answers. That's scary to mom and dad, and they claim the schools have indoctrinated their kids.
